Outbreak Observatory, housed at the Pandemic Center at the Brown University School of Public Health, serves as a platform for generating evidence and sharing data and information related to ongoing and emerging infectious disease health security threats.

What Does Outbreak Observatory Do?

Generate Evidence

Through collaborations with domestic and international partners, we study infectious disease crises to improve future preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, including challenges, best practices, and innovative and effective solutions. Our research findings are shared broadly to reach those responsible for building public health and healthcare capacities.

Cultivate & Share Resources

Our team collects existing operationally-focused research that captures lessons learned during previous responses to infectious disease outbreaks. These resources are shared on our online platform to streamline access for frontline responders and others with a vested interest in health security.

Track Public Health Threats

Our data dashboard provides up-to-date epidemiological information on ongoing outbreaks, both domestic and international. We also publish a weekly newsletter, the Tracking Report, that interprets, contextualizes, and summarizes relevant outbreak data.

Educate the Public

Our blog posts provide a deep dive into pertinent and timely health security topics to ensure the public has the information needed to stay safe from infectious disease threats.
